Federer’s clothing line

Roger Federer had one thing clear, he wanted to dedicate himself professionally to tennis, in those times it was difficult to make a living and earn a living thanks to his athletic abilities. I had to get a sponsor. That was when the open search for sponsors began. 

Nike was one of the first to take an interest in the tennis player of Swiss origin. In addition to offering him a sponsorship contract, Nike offered him new opportunities. Merchandising, clothing lines, shoes, signed rackets and a long etc. This is how together, nike and roger federer created the RF brand to offer new quality sports products to supply a new growing market.

The successful image of Roger Federer and the strong brand behind its products, Nike, a company known worldwide as a symbol of quality. thus these products were quickly top sellers thanks to the large market niche they were attacking. But Roger Federer demanded more, he also wanted his brand to be unique and not to be compared to other products that were sold by other athletes’ Nike.

Nike once the contract with Roger Federer ended, he patented the brand in his name without the authorization of the tennis player. After finding out, Roger did not want to follow the ties he had with Nike, forcing all the merchandise that was manufactured to be withdrawn from sale.

thus ending a 20-year contract with Nike with which he had made a lot of money. He was now if ready to look for a sponsor, several companies and clothing firms put proposals on the table, in the end Roger ended up choosing UNIQLO, since in addition to offering 30 times more than what Nike offered, I guarantee a marketing and a post game assistance that I never had.

Roger Federer was present during the confections for his new clothing line, thus choosing the styles and textiles that best matched the winning athlete of 20 grand slams.

This new line to which Roger Federer has devoted more time than any other made by his former collaborator, NIke. It stands out for its minimalist lines, a simple and comfortable design. With solid colors that accompany a small red logo on the t-shirts.

They currently have three collections for 2019, named after the tournaments, French Open, London and New York. this collections are formed by a T-shirt, a pair of gym shorts, a wristband, a pair of socks and a limited edition jersey for each tournament you will play. This year 2020 has not yet created any collection, but they have already confirmed a new series for 2021
